How To Get Rich, Felix Dennis Way to Make MoneyLearn Making Money Skills. How-to Guide by a Self-Made Entrepreneur
Felix Dennis guides those with an inner compulsion to get rich and are ready to work hard. It is not a get rich quick book of false promises and unrealistic "secrets".
Felix Dennis made his fortune from scratch – he started with nothing and at times he struggled to even pay his rent or buy food. But he had a real desire to be rich and was driven to sacrifice everything and work hard to achieve that dream. He argues in How To Get Rich that making money is a knack and is an ability that anyone can acquire. Real Desire to Make Money and Get RichHowever the author stresses that it involves sacrifice, energy and commitment and is therefore not for the idle, the comfortable or wishful thinkers. He makes the point that readers should not confuse a superficial desire to be rich with a deep inner need that creates the desire and willingness to face the consequences of pursuing riches. The first part of the book examines the motivation, commitment and energy needed to follow the dream of serious wealth. Felix Dennis does not pull his punches to make sure that would be entrepreneurs have the essential desire and energy needed to succeed. He encourages the young to just do it and advises older readers to partner with a like minded youngster who has the energy and health to see it through. The advice is down to earth and well illustrated with anecdotes from Dennis’s own career; not all are flattering. How To Get Rich is punctuated with relevant poetry much of it written by Dennis himself which he uses to make the point that money buys time; time to do what one wants, where one wants. In his case it is to write poetry. The Fallacy of the Big Money Idea; Execution is the KeyHaving discouraged the dilettante How To Get Rich explores the various aspects of making money and disposes of the notion that a “Big Idea” is needed. Success, and luck, comes when opportunity meets preparation and is followed through with solid execution. A key point for Dennis is maintaining ownership and thereby control. That way the entrepreneur does not have to dance to the tune of capital providers who need short-term gains even at the expense of long term future of the business and the ultimate wealth of the entrepreneur.
